I bought this bible because I wanted to have my bible "studies" supported deeper by notes and additional information without having to sit in a bible study group. He takes on up almost everybody from Dennett, to Chalmers, to the churchlands, BLock, Nagel, Tye, functionalsim, non-reductive materialism, theory of knowledge, you name it. I have already read the entire book. Amber was supposed to be completely new to the idea of having a polyamorous relationship, had a dysfunctional family, a failed marriage, and just lost her only close family member to a murderer, but had very little difficulty jumping into a relationship with two men. This contemporaneous account of some of the nation's most excruciating growing pains is difficult (emotionally) to read, but critical to getting a grip on what the USA is now and from whence we came. Sometimes, we stumble on extreme characters with far-fetched or difficult stories to relate in their narrative, and we embrace their unique personhood and tough experiences; I found myself unable to do that with just about all the characters in this book. Although it was a well written suspense story, I felt like I was reading about human nobles and assassins rather than vampires.
