I've read almost all of Henning Mankell's Kurt Wallander series and this is my very favorite so far. In order to use it for a story time in front of 50 plus children the illustrations have to catch their eye, as well as have a fun/interesting story. I really enjoyed this book and it takes us through a lot of emotions, I felt this last book in the series was more emotional than the previous once, mainly because it’s the last book, but also because of Preston his past and Amie being with a baby which complicates their relationship. Written during World War II, the novel mourns the passing of the aristocratic world Waugh knew in his youth and vividly recalls the sensuous plea-sures denied him by wartime austerities; in so doing it also provides a profound study of the conflict between the demands of religion and the desires of the flesh.
